🎉 We Did It — Quilt Plano 2025 Was a Smash Hit! 🎉

Woohoo!! What an incredible success! A huge THANK YOU to all our amazing volunteers and QGP members who poured their hearts into making Quilt Plano 2025 unforgettable. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive — vendors, entrants, attendees, volunteers, and even the Plano Event Center team were raving about how fantastic the Show was!

🌟 A special shoutout to the phenomenal QP25 Committee — your dedication throughout the year made this event seamless, joyful, and profitable!

💰 While we’re still tallying the final numbers, it’s clear we’ve raised a generous amount to support top-tier programs, speakers, and community initiatives. Stay tuned for a full Show summary at an upcoming Guild meeting!

🏆 Congratulations to everyone who entered a quilt! And a standing ovation to our ribbon winners — especially Linda Neal, whose breathtaking Calm Day at Sea earned Best of Show honors! You can view the full list of winners and keep an eye out for the complete photo gallery coming soon to our website.

🧵 Next time you visit the Plano Event Center, be sure to admire the stunning quilt now hanging in their sales office lobby — a generous gift from Valerie Salter on behalf of our Guild. It’s a beautiful symbol of our partnership with the City of Plano and a testament to the artistry we bring to life. Thanks also to Quilt Ideas for donating the wooden quilt hanger — the PEC team had it displayed before the Show even wrapped!

✨ Speaking of stunning quilts, a special thank you to quilt designer Ashley Stovall for the beautiful Deco at Dusk that was donated to the Guild as our QP25 Raffle Quilt. We sure did enjoy leveraging the colorful logo everywhere we could this year! Thank you to you and your group for the many hours it took to design, create, and generously donate it to us!

💖 Heartfelt thanks to Carol Truscott, my incredible co-chair, and to Jeanne Vogel, our Guild President. These powerhouse women have been my partners in leadership for the past 12 months, and together with the Committee we’ve delivered a fantastic Show — and created lifelong friendships to boot!

🤩 Looking ahead, Carol will step into the role of Show Chair, and Carolyn Cosgriff, our incoming Guild President, will join her in leading the charge for QP26! With their experience and passion, the future of Quilt Plano is in excellent hands. Want to be part of the magic? Reach out to them and join the QP26 team — planning starts NOW!

Again, WOW, what a show! Kudos to everyone that entered a quilt and made the time spent looking at the quilts hanging such a great way to see first hand the talent and the style of quilts that are a show of this size. New arrangement of the admission doors gave more time for the quilts made during workshops and those made by being in a small group. Those many, many hours we invested to showcase our talents with vendors, visitors and volunteers! Our thanks to our photographer Dena Smith for capturing all of the displays. And the biggest Thank You to all those that volunteered and got a charm to add to their QGP bar.

GUILD ACTIVITIES

Well, wasn’t QP2025 just fabulous!  It was wonderful to see all the quilts, shop the vendors and chat with fellow quilters from the guild and afar!

Mission Not Impossible has over 50 participants – what a great group of quilters we are!  If you have finished your quilt top please bring it to the September meeting — we will have a show and tell of our accomplishments. Thanks to everyone who is participating. There is still time to pick up a bag of fabric. Stop by the Community Service/Guild Activities tables to pick up a kit (or two!).

Enjoy summer quilting — time to stay cool, be cool and treat yourself to a cool cold dish of ice cream.

PROGRAMS AND WORKSHOPS

So hard to believe we are closing in on two years as CoVPs for QGP Programs. We have learned so much and met so many new people!  Thank you to all of you who have wandered over to our table to introduce yourself and check out upcoming Programs and Workshops. We hope you have enjoyed our choices, tried new techniques, and picked up a few great tips and tricks! WE have learned how nice it is to walk into the room and have plenty of women who share our quilting passion to chat with.

With that in mind, we bring you our September Program:  Conversations with Quilters!  It’s a challenge for most of us to comfortably meet new people; but sometimes it’s just a matter of introducing yourself and sharing a few tidbits to start off a lifelong friendship. This month we will have a panel of quilters from our own guild introduce themselves to you and share a few things. Maybe you have seen them around, but have never spoken to them, maybe you stood next to them at the Show and compared notes! Regardless, in an effort to build even more community within our ever growing guild…Let’s get the conversations rolling!

Also, don’t forget to sign up for our October workshop with Dee Bushrod from Pixel Quilts. Hear about her Passion for Pixels during the October Thursday night lecture, then try her technique in the Friday workshop. Only one workshop and only a few spots left, so don’t wait to sign up! For ease of prep, Dee offers a kit (reserve at signup) so you don’t need to chase down all the different fabrics.  If you fall in love with the method, you can even expand the Cherry Blossom Wall Hanging into a larger quilt. See you at the guild meeting!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Valerie Schlake and Debbie Blair

We had another great turnout for Sew Day in August. It is always such a great time to socialize with others while creating gifts to give back to the community.  Please consider joining us to be part of this special time together. We meet the second Tuesday of every month from 10 am to 2 pm at the Plano Sewing Center.  Just bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies and we will provide the rest.

We have received some of the early bird’s  “Mission Not Impossible” quilt tops and they are fantastic!  It is amazing to see the creativity shining through!  We are looking forward to seeing the rest and can’t wait to share with everyone.  The members of this guild continue to share their hearts and arts while creating such wonderful gifts to be loved and cherished by those in our community that are in need of a little kindness.  If you missed getting your bag a “Mission Not Impossible” fabric or inspired to do another, we have some fabric bags left and you can pick them up at the next guild meeting.

Not part of Community Service?  Are you looking for a way to “give back” to the community or an   opportunity to meet other quilters and crafters?  Consider yourself invited to join us. We have something for everyone that would like to be involved whether just a little or a lot.

Thanks to all!

We couldn’t do what we do without you!

Val and Debbie
