The judges for Quilt Plano 2018 will be Kathi Eubank and Dr. Cheryl Christian.
Kathi has been working in judging rooms – local to national – for several years and is a National Association of Certified Quilt Judges (NACQJ) certified quilt judge. For over ten years she worked on the show committee for Machine Quilters Showcase (MQS®) where she was Judging Room Coordinator from 2011-2016. Kathi also served on the Board of Directors for International Machine Quilters Association from 2014-2016 and was Managing Editor of On Track! Magazine from 2011 to 2016. She is Past President of the Central Arkansas Longarm Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hot Springs Village Quilt Guild.
Kathi is a national award-winning longarm quilter who applies her knowledge and expertise in quilting when judging. Her attention to detail allows her to efficiently evaluate the quilts that she judges while taking into consideration that each and every quilt is special to its maker. Kathi also offers guild lectures and classes on what a judge looks for when examining a quilt and what it takes to become an award-winning quilter.
Kathi and her husband live high in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains of central Arkansas. They enjoy travelling around the world, during which time Kathi can be found sketching out patterns found in architecture that she then incorporates into her quilting designs.
Cheryl counts herself fortunate to have grown up with quilts made by her great- grandmother and grandmother; she took to quilting herself in 1975. A long-time teacher and publishing professional, she has edited Needle Arts since 2007 and is currently Director of Publications for the American Quilt Study Group.
A two-time certified master judge, Cheryl is Director of Judges Certification for the National Academy of Needlearts. In addition, she is a certified appraiser and co-chairs the Certified Appraiser Program for the Embroiderers’ Guild of America.
A juried member of Fiber Forum, Cheryl exhibits her own work regionally and nationally and has curated numerous exhibitions, including two online exhibitions for SAQA. She has served local guilds in the Austin, Texas, area in many capacities, including quilt show chair and vice president of education. She travels extensively, writing and researching, and conducts workshops and lectures.
