November Guild Meeting - Upstairs

We will again be meeting in the upstairs rooms at Hunters Glen Baptist Church. Park on the NORTH side of the building (Pleasant Valley Drive). There is parking near the building and in a large parking lot across the street on the north side. Enter the double doors on the north side - immediately to the right is a set of stairs and an elevator. Take those to the second floor and go down the hall to rooms 266 and 267, at the end of the hall.

Guild Meeting Thursday, November 9th - Allison Bayer, My Scrappy World

Hang on to your scrappy seats... you are going on a visual seven-year journey of over 20 scrap quilts and what Allison has learned from each one. You've heard the saying "You get better with each quilt?" Well, it is true. The Scrap User's System developed by Bonnie K. Hunter, Allison's personal piecing hero, works beautifully to turn out lovely, "I can't believe I made that!!" scrappy quilts. From the simplest units you too can make your scrap quilt dreams come true.

Saturday, November 11th, Workshop by Allison Bayer - Scrap User's System, at Best Little Retreat Center in Texas - setup at 8:30, workshop at 9:00

The Scrap User's System was created by Bonnie Hunter. Allison Bayer will be teaching us this method with Bonnie's permission. Take it because you finally want to use the scraps you have on hand. Learning how to “clean up” after a project is finished is something I wish I had known when I was a new quilter!! We'll be making a notebook of the samples we sew after lunch. The morning will be spent processing scraps for your very own "Scrap User's System."

For more details about the workshop, and to see the supply list and sign up for the workshop, see the Programs page.

Upcoming Guild Activities

November - Game Time - At the Guild meeting in November we will play a fast, fun game before the lecture. Please bring one, two, or three fat quarters with the Quilt Shop band still on them and play the odds. This is not LCR.

December - Pincushion Exchange - Please play along by making a fun or fabulous pin cushion that you would be delighted to receive. Package it as a gift, and we will exchange them at the December Guild meeting.

January - Ugly Fabric Swap - In January we will exchange 10" squares of Ugly Fabric, and ala Becky Goldsmith, we will turn those less desirable pieces into color magic. We will have the big reveal in July, when each person will get an opportunity to show off their project and explain their process. And, if space allows, we may be able to hang them in the show as a special exhibit. Please remember to take pictures as you go so we can do a slide show with your progress pics.
